ECU upgrades , IID tool

Hey

I identified that my transmission and transfer case ECU had SW upgrades available, so I ordered these from GAP
As the transmission needs an adaptation reset , I assume that , as I also plan to change the sump and flush the oil , the order of events should be

1 service transmission
2 clear adaptations
3 reflash latest SW

Do we agree or should I clear adaptations and flash prior to the service ?

Also, I see other ECUs with available upgrades - is it worth purchasing the latest upgrades for TV , instrument pack , audio etc
What are the benefits offered by the latest SW ?

Was also surprised at a £25 per ECU admin fee for the upgrades , would have expected the latest SW versions to have been applied as part of the dealer service - my new to me 4.2 Fatty was main dealer serviced up to a couple of years ago , prior to services by a local garage .
Is it possible that upgrades have been released in the last couple of years ?

Thanks for any insight 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back

More likely the dealer won't do updates unless you ask them to fix a problem with something linked to one of the ecus.

Thanks , I guess that could be just it .
I haven’t really taken much notice of the SW updates to my cars for a while , but the bikes always get any available SW updates applied as a matter of course when in for service 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back

So this week I changed the transmission oil and filter and then drained and refilled 3 more times ,
All straight forward and simple to do - looked like the sump had been changed previously but the fluid was still very dirty .
Clean as new oil after changing /draining 16l

No faults really with the transmission.. other then a bit of a clunk dropping back from second into first and hanging on to gears longer than I’d like , kicking down quickly when not really required (I put this down to maybe the car had been used for towing before I got it)
After the oil change everything felt smoother , but as I’d ordered the ECU upgrades today I proceeded with the flashing

Step1 -Menu->Service Test->Transmission->Clear Adaption
Step2 -Menu->ECU Flash--Transmission
Step3 -Menu--ECU Flash--Transfer Case
Step4 -Menu--Calibration--Transfer Case, proceed with both items

Well , I’m delighted with the results . Changes up and down are silky smooth (much like the 8spd in my 2016 5 series) and changes up to 6th much earlier than it did before the clear / reflash 4.2 SC - sold , now bought back

This is the IID tool generated report before upgrade - I’ll need to re-run now they’re upgraded I guess

Transfer box is the first one
