Problem Part 1 (Electrical)

Hi

I'm having a problem with the centre console screen and it's associated features.

At periods ranging from a couple of days to over a week when I return to the car I find the screen has no power and none of the associated functions work Nav, radio, phone, CD ETC. The LED power indicator on the on/off switch does not illuminate when pressed.

I have discovered that if I remove then re-install fuse number 49 (30A) labeled 'Navigation system, on-board computer, on-board monitor, audio system' the system will seem to re-boot and display a message on the screen saying a new key has been found and personal settings are being restored. After the re-start the system and all functions work fine.

Some of the systems functions Radio, CD changer ETC have separate control modules but there must be one unit that brings all of the data together and provides this data and power to the screen.

Has anyone seen this problem before? or can anyone suggest a fix or suggest a location for the control module of the screen?

it might be as simple as the battery not giving enough power to get ALL the ecu's going...how old is the battery, if over 3 years then i would think about replacing it. ... - .- -.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

If this is the case why does the system re-start after the fuse is pulled and replaced the battery voltage will be the same and then why does the system not re-start when the engine is running and battery/system voltage is at maximum?

Surely if a battery can supply enough amps to start a diesel engine in the winter then a few ecu's should be no problem unless it is a voltage issue and the voltage would not change between pulling and re-inserting a fuse.

I can only ever get the system to re-start (when down) by pulling and re-inserting the fuse.
