Reading this with interest and although I don't own it, I always remember the very first L322 that I ever saw. It pulled up outside the swan hotel in Leighton Buzzard the year that the L322 was launched and it had the most impressive numberplate that I have ever seen, YE5 1 CAN (does this make it a very early one)? I have never seen it again can tell you that I wanted one after seeing that. I had to wait a few years but finally got my 2002 Adriatic Blue HSE. Sadly this is now owned by a friend of mine and I have just taken delivery of my 2010 Autobiography 4.4 TDV8. The Best 4x4 by far, so long as you have deep pockets. |

It's been joined by it's sister car registered on the same day, probably the oldest surviving preproduction 4.2 SC and a preproduction Japanese spec 4.2 SC

Slighty O/T trivia: I'm not sure what the reg is of the silver one at 0:30 in on the launch video video below is, I'm assuming crushed if it was a pre-launch car? I remember dropping down into the turns above Gruinard Bay to see them loading it onto a transporter having shot the scene at 3:05, probably in spring 2001 if memory serves me. Pretty sure it was in my dad's old Frontera so would certainly have been around that time. The scene at 0:30 is climbing south out from the end of Little Loch Broom on the A832 (now part of the 'NC500' - bleurgh) towards the Fearn/straight mile on the way to Braemore junction. |
