Made me laugh that I missed the tyres - you are dead right. It is a big clue to it being run on a budget.

Check the past mot's for mileage and drive it if it feels right it probably is I have had some very ropey services performed by main dealers |

True. I have had some very poor main dealer services done too.

I think your mate could do better. £16,500 seems steep for a 3.6

"Cheap tyres" could also be value tyres, I ran my 3.6 on Nexens because I really didn't want to subsidise Pirellis F1 activities but I still spent loads getting the car as I wanted it - age and condition are your deciders - not tyres. Geoff |

I totally agree on this point. I am a mechanic by trade and do all of my own work on my cars once they are out of warranty(I don't trust dealers as I have had too many dodgy jobs done by them when my cars have been in warranty). I ran my 2002 L322 on Nexans because I found that with all of the roundabouts in MK I was chewing the outside walls of my tyres and the Nexans were fitted as a cheap alternative. Having said that, I was surprised by the Nexans because off road traction was far superior to the Pirelli's and they lasted /wore a lot better. Cheap tyres does not mean a badly looked after car! The Best 4x4 by far, so long as you have deep pockets. |

I don’t disagree on the nexens, they are good value, non branded tyres aren’t necessarily bad, however they aren’t nexens.
