Phone not fitted message 2010 Vogue

My newly acquired 2010 Vogue displays a "Phone not fitted" message.
The Bluetooth unit is in place and the connections seem ok.
Any ideas about the cause? Are BY units known to fail, and if so, suggestions for replacement

Thanks in anticipation Question Andrew

Hi Stan
Thanks for the reply.
My first step was to try the user manual instructions, but when I press the "Phone" button or select via touch-screen options, it just says "Phone not fitted"
Bluetooth seeking from my phone and other devices does not reveal the car systems.
Disconnected BT module in boot, ensured contacts all clean and reconnected - no change.
It may be that BT module has failed, and if I have to get another, so be it (about £100 on ebay it seems)

I only got the car Friday, and I have yet to either get an extra code for my Britpart/Lynx diagnostic tool to transfer from my TD6, or invest in IID

I have yet to find dvd/tv functions, but they are less important.

Just noticed, I will have to update my picture to the new car Smile Andrew

Mine did this when I changed my phone the other week. It couldn't find the new phone at all. I fixed it in the end by pairing a different phone with it, that was straightforward - no problems at all. After that, my new phone saw "something" (not Land Rover, but something with a headset symbol) and I paired with that on the off-chance it was my RR. The weird thing it was listing then magically turned into LAND ROVER and car and phone are now best friends. I have no idea how or why.

RR ownership. The fun never stops. Rolling with laughter

It works Laughing

I just had to be more patient - after about 3 minutes of searching for Bluetooth devices from my phone, eventually "Land Rover" appeared, and asked for the passcode. Was then able to view phonebook entries (I really must tidy those) and make a call.

As Squirell said "It's a Range Rover . . ." Rolling with laughter so it won't necessarily be straightforward. Only Land Rover would use "fitted" rather than "connected"

Hopefully, all will be OK going forward, but in the meantime, thanks for the advice received. Andrew

Effectively, it was just a case of RTFM, but I did that, and followed the instructions but didn't wait long enough.

It being a Range Rover, I suspected the worst so I'm glad its all working OK now.

I wonder what will go wrong next ????

I have purchased a third-party warranty policy, and I will update when I have to make use of it Cool Andrew

Update
I was able to connect, make and receive calls OK
Yesterday it had a service, and then it wouldn't connect automatically (as it had before) and my phone couldn't "see" the car.
Re-start phone and try again - frustrating and annoying

Maybe I need to get the BT module flashed/upgraded Mad Andrew
