Not so good bits:
It looks great from a distance but as to be expected there are a few little marks and scratches here and there. The alloys are OK, could do with a refurb as some paint has come off one or two of them but no curb damage.
Right hand step has a small amount of damage to the plastic trim below the step. (doesn't affect the step)
Fog light is cracked - have been meaning to sort this and will try and get one ordered!
Reversing camera is intermittent. It is off the car at the moment, need to refit after recent repair - works in testing!
Rear parking sensors are occasionally confused by rain - however this might be normal as I've been in three FF's which do the same!

As much as it pains me to sell this wonderful car. I've been to view a few M5's and the bit is between my teeth now. I am willing to take a sensible offer. I still think this is the cheapest MY07 Supercharged on the market that I can find but the worst I can say is no  2005 E60 M5

Off topic which m5 you going for e60 or f10? I currently run the v10 and the fuel bills are about 1/3 LESS than the ff dispite the bonus cylinders and extra cc. If it’s an e60 be very very careful about early 05-08 models as they have catastrophic rod bearing failures which are well documented. I know first hand as my m6 had this luckily under warranty. I got a brand new final spec (3rd edition) s85 which seems to reduce the issue substantially (I don’t want to say eliminate as that’s a curse for sure and I have no warranty now) so I would be looking Lci if I were you. The newer spec engines have two sump bungs the old only one. They are awesome cars had mine for the best part of 8years I can’t bring myself to sell it as when else will I ever own and afford a v10 again! If your looking at an f10 ignore all that  Current stable:

Yes I was quite surprised on the way home yesterday the M5 managed 24.5mpg. Figures that can only be dreamed of in the old Supercharged considering I was cruising at a higher speed than I would in the FF as well.

Interesting to hear that info, it is an E60 and whilst I hear what you are saying from my research the later bearing design has shown to be no better in most testing it seems to be harder and causes more damage to the crank when it does begin to wear.

I have allowed rod bearing replacement in the budget but the car I have bought has had the same owner for the last 10 years and has been meticulously maintained by a specific mechanic so I don't feel its too urgent. I won't be doing a huge amount of miles and to be honest my next plan is to send an oil sample for analysis although it has just been serviced so I will wait a little while.

I looked at some LCI models and from price bracket from 12 -20k and I feel in this example, despite being a 55, is the absolute best one I can afford based on the sheer amount of work its had all with genuine BMW parts etc. You roll the dice though and see what happens! 2005 E60 M5

I have an e61 M5 - wicked and rare cars.

Don't think the later cars had any better rod bearings to be fair.

Enjoy the M5, it will be worse on fuel than your supercharged round town - but who cares!

To be honest I very rarely drive in town. For my the E60 will be used like the FF. Occasional motorway cruising or heading out for lunch for the day and back home again.

The fuel economy doesn't bother me, however its thimble for a fuel tank and poor economy means a comically short range which may well wear thin! It was bad enough in the 650i 2005 E60 M5

You do definately roll the dice the newer bearing clearances are definitely better but not fool proof. What I like is how quiet the vamps is on the newer engine, I have seen an 06 on the board with over 150k and and 08 with over 200k - since the new engine I don’t rev over 3k until oil is up to temp before giving the beans... are you going to be doing many miles with it do you think? When did it last have a clutch and flywheel? I’m on my 3rd set 40k tops they last, tbh aside from that a fuel pump and alternator in the last 8yrs she’s not been bad... Current stable:

It had its first clutch and flywheel at 63k its now on 79k so should be plenty of life in it yet. I only do 5k a year or so. It's just had brakes tyres and throttle actuators in last 12 months 2k miles and had an SMG pump at 70k so its had most of the major work done. 2005 E60 M5

Nice - hopefully you enjoy her! You’ll have your coils die one by one next common around that mileage - if your feeling flush you can do all 10 (diy is not too bad) or if your feeling poor like I was when the first one went you can do one at a time over two years... but risk limp mode as your new friend! Not sure if I’m allowed to recommend other forums but m5 board is good for all things non ff  Current stable:
