Thanks for the replies. Just to update you I checked the fuel pump today & it appears to be working ok! pulled the fuel filter pipe off and turned ignition on and it was pumping diesel!!! The new high pressure pump was fitted at the beginning of December and has been working fine, I've covered 2k miles since it was fitted. I will check the things you suggested tomorrow to see if this helps and let you know. If anyone else has any ideas let me know and I will be glad to check them as this is baffling me now. I don't want to go to the 'STEALERS' but may have too if all else fails.

Fuel pump relay is in the boot on the right....it the rearmost relay 1st row above fuses. There is a relay underbonnet which caused a friends vehicle not to start....its in the ecu box on the left hand side there's about 8 screws in the lid take it off and you will see a blue relay tucked down in the frontpull it out and put it back in or tap it his was stuck...if that work you need a new relay it's about £6.. |

Still possible its the inlne fuel pump under the rear passenger side, mine used to have an intermittent start fault caused by this pump |
