Absolutely but I was hoping to find one without rust but I think this is pretty impossible.

The best maintained cars are often forum cars.
Maybe post a wanted ad here?
Otherwise what CounterofBeans said.

I am in exactly the same position as you although slightly higher budget. Went to look at two locally to us in Cornwall one with the local Land Rover dealer at Roger young and the other with a prestige 2nd car sales locally where my partner got his C63 which was immaculate.

The latter was in excellent condition but it lacked a lot of the options I wanted but has set the bar for condition. There was no rust on the arches or tailgate and was very clean. The one at Land Rover was well used had signs of early surface rust on the rear arches and a flat battery.

Having had an 05 4.4 V8 L322 previously we replaced the rear tailgate for a non rusty one in the same colour which we got for £20 was an absolute bargain and also had the rear arches sorted but that is only ever temporary as unless you cut rust out it always comes back essentially. It's turning out to be a challenge.

Where did you find your cars? I'm using AT, eBay and Pistonheads, is there anywhere else I should be looking?

Just how rusty are the arches and tailgate ?
I'm interested as I didn't really notice too many like this (10 to 12 cars)

Is this visible from outside, or only on the exposed arch lip if you look in the arch ?
Clearly this bit is not protected from stones etc, so is likely to get chipped.

Same for the tailgate, where is the rust and is it visible externally or only from inside ?

Cheers,
John. Too many toys, not enough time

v84x4 my theory is that higher mile cars 90k say have had the bugs ironed out... 70k seems to be around when the oil cooler goes. £700 sounds like they replaced it. Sometimes the housing cracks but members here have found sometimes just the gasket need doing.

If you bought from a dealer you have recourse.... Or did you buy privately?

John W it's covered - you have to open the rear doors, peel back or even remove the rubber and you'll know straight away. Plenty here using search.

Welcome to the world of FF ownership!

Front suspension ball joints are a consumable item, I reckon that it’s done reasonably well at 74k for front ball joints, they take a fair bit of hammer so can go fairly early, I had both done on my 3.6 at about 65k.

If it’s had the cooler done that is the main major issue that seems to rear it’s head. There are a few other items if you look on here, but in the main it’s a pretty reliable engine and gearbox combo. As for suspension parts, they are moving around 3t of car so will wear, but once done will last a good length of time (if they are done correctly and using decent parts).... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I got my first RR on gumtree looked at loads I've just been to see another TDV8 local at Castle Motors again was very tidy. Rear arches were good but the boot showing early signs of corrosion underneath the lip. It had the oil cooler done by LR and had a LR warranty included. Didn't have a couple of options I was after but drove lovely and looked good in Green.

Thanks.
I appreciate it's rusty but doesn't look too bad.
Mine is nothing like as serious as that, just a couple of chips that I will rust treat and touch in. Too many toys, not enough time

Update;

Just put a holding deposit down on what looks to be an immaculate, fairly low mileage and very well spec'd Vogue with no rust apparently. It also has a set of turbines fitted so it will be interesting to see how it handles.

Looking at it on Thursday so fingers crossed. Thumbs Up
