I expect that there is a fault with one of the pre-requisite systems, such as a brake, steering angle sensor or suspension system error. If you don't see any messages on start-up then the fault codes will need to be read.

on the 4.4 (2011) it'd be the adaptive damper cables which are quite an easy fix.

+1 for checking the adaptive damper cables, though this tends to throw the adaptive dynamics fault message too, could be the yellow triangle message....

Thanks for your help peeps, will check cables. I keep getting adaptive dynamics fault but keeps coming and going but changed cables in summer . I didn't realise that this would affect special features mode |

Right guys thanks for all your help I managed to get out side and check cables for suspension struts and as diagnosed one of the legs had a break in it
