anyone heard reports of this oil spy stuff working or actually used it?

afaik, the blacker the oil the quicker it needs changing..

Yes, seen it used. Basically some flashy litmus paper which is looking for certain chemicals and particles. If it finds excess diesel in the oil then it reports that back. Of course, by the time this is happening you'll have loads of smoke out of the back anyway. Same thing with certain acids, metallic particles etc.

I personally don't see the point of it unless you have unexplained problems. By that time most of the damage is done already. I prefer to just change the oil every 10k miles.
