It’s possible that there is a problem but It could be they have been turned off. I switched mine off as I didn’t fancy motor failure. You will need decent diagnostics to access the settings though.

On a BMW era L322 its fairly common for the motors or the mechanisms to fail on these and the older these cars get the less likely they will continue to work. An new column these days is thousands. If you can hear the motors running (I assume you can't) and the column isn't moving there are fixes but if you can't hear the motors then as previously suggested, take the cowling off and check if there is power to the feeds.
