Climate seat fault code ?

Hi,

I'm looking into an issue with the climate seats on my 2012 RR, neither driver or passenger seats heat or cool ? Both rotary knobs work & light up blue or red & you can hear a fan running but only for a few seconds & it then shuts down. I've plugged it into my mates laptop & it comes up with B1231 right seat & B1232 left seat, we cleared the fault code but it came straight back again when we switched them back on.
I've searched these codes & although I get results on various climate seat problems nothing specific to what the codes mean or do they not pinpoint they actual issue ?
Could it be the broken duct I've read about as I understand this or a faulty fan would stop both seats working.
Any suggestions or pointers on where to start would be appreciated.

TIA Phil

On the face of it, it sounds like the seat back unit thermistor has given up. But if that was the case, then the cooling cycle would still work.

Check out this thread for some good tips : - http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic44946.html

Hi, I think the issue is something that would stop both working unless they both have the same fault, I've read the posts on the link you've copied & will have a look into it this weekend but I just wondered if anyone knew if these codes actually point to the fault or are they just a general 'the seat isn't working' code which seems a bit pointless as you can tell when they aren't working ?
Regards, Phil.

Hi, just an update on this issue. I've had the RR into a local LR specialist who diagnosed both seat back modules were faulty. He's replaced them & I now have working heated or cooled seats Smile
Hopefully this will be covered by the dealer I bought the car from !
It seemed strange both would have stopped working but as I've recently bought the car & they've never worked since I got it I suppose it's feasible one may have stopped working first & then the other & the previous owner never bothered getting them fixed ?
Interestingly both plastic ducts look in perfect condition with no splits or cracks at all, it seems it was the peltier (?) unit that had failed.
Just glad to have seats that work, especially as the forecast is for more cold weather this weekend.
Phil.
