I've been imagining something like this for a few years now for a house we use mostly in summer so I'm really interested to know more about costs. |

i've done some googling since posting and it seems that a one panel install that gives you 24/7 hot water costs around £4500...a four panel system that can also run central heating is around £10k... ... - .- -.

looks like loads of companys are doing this David and i have no links as yet...info is a bit sparse on pricing as nearly all companys require you to contact them for a price.. ... - .- -.

Wow - solar panels paid for? I did a quick check 2 yr ago and found the payback time was 10-12 years so I didn't think worth it. Can you give any more details on your set up?

its a 4 kilowatt [16 panels] system installed in dec 2010 just before the decent tariff cutoff Greg.....

cost £10500, and we're now £700 in the black...plus the free electric we've had since install..tariff is for 25 years from install..
