Had a few days of busy family time, was able to get back to the dead FFRR this morning. I had had the LCM and the brake light switch in the airing cupboard for a couple of days...
Disconnected that +ve battery terminal and touched with the -ve lead (supposed to help clear ECUs)
Reconnected LCM and brake light switch
Reconnected battery - no whirring noises, no flashing hazards (remember alarm siren disconnected)
Key to ignition, car starts first time
Did wheel to wheel to clear dash lights, no complaints or bongs from the dash
Connected up the IIDTool and ran a full diagnostics. The usual suspects showed up along with the complaints I would expect to see from a battery disconnect. BCM had a pile of faults on the passenger door. Of note:
BCM - Aux Input Fuse defective (what is this?)
Instrument Pack - Chime T1 Fault / Lighting Module 0xBE
Lighting Module - NO COMMS with ECU !!
Parking Module - NO COMMS with ECU !!
Steering Lock - Rotation Detection 0x45 / Intermittent Relay 0x18
Cleared all faults
Live Values:
Brake Light Switch - 0.4/5 volts
Alternator bang on 14.0 volts, has been the same for years. Battery was 12.5 volts before reconnection.
So looks like i need to sort out the Comms with the LCM or get the LCM fixed.
Also of note, when I locked the car the flashers didn't flash (because siren disconnected?) - tested all lights, they all work, including indicators.
Now waiting for the car to go to sleep, see if it faults out again. At least I moved away from being parked up close to the wall of the house so I can get at both sides (e.g. access the BCM) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember
