United States 2012 Range Rover HSE 5.0 V8 Santorini Black
New here...first time RR owner...

And it's too *$(& cold to take a good photo yet. Just picked up a 2012 FFRR HSE last week. It's been above 0ºF for about 3 hours since I bought it. And, of course, my furnace went out at the same time....

So, I got a good price on this, knowing it needs a little TLC. Rear doors don't unlock with the system, so I need to check their actuators, or the body control module (what's that called again, was I right?).

The console armrest needs replaced, eventually. One side of the top that opens up for mobile phone access is cracked, so it doesn't close without some guidance. The lower compartment opens and closes fine, just that top cover. And it's solid when it's latched and closed. Low priority.

Leather needs a good cleaning, but there are no scuffs or tears.

Main priorities are front ball joints and servicing the transmission, as I don't think it's been done.

I'm here after 2 Jeep Commanders, and 2 BMW X5s.

Is there an equivalent to RealOEM for these trucks? A site where I can drill down into a system to browse and find part numbers for everything?

Better photos will come when I thaw out.

The only real LR parts catalogue is on a Russian site www.lrparts.ru it’s ancopy of Microcat with images. It usually works but often goes down. Click on in English in the banner at the top and then on Landrover microcat.

You can then drill down for the most up to date part numbers on www.lrdirect.com as the have the what superceded what data.

Welcome Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Codes

Thanks for the welcomes...I've been wanting one of these trucks since the mid 90s.

Okay, perhaps a bit of help off the bat so I can head in the right direction.

I just pulled codes off the FFRR with icarsoft. Here's what popped out. I have zero lights on my dash, everything is running smooth except what I noted in my first post. Anyone have any thoughts on the group of codes from the doors? What is the brain of that system, and I'm guessing I should start there?

I'm going to wait for it to warm up a bit before I worry too much about the air suspension. I've dealt with it before on an X5. It's still raising and lowering, and it could just be raising slower because of the low temps.

Thanks!

I would clear all the codes first and see which return.

Usually the car will raise and lower steadily, but if you try it out too much in one go it will deplete the reservoir and raise slowly.

The brain of the doors is the BCM which is (as far as I know) under the drivers seat in the UK don’t know if that swaps sides when you go over to the USA

Unusual car that, one with the non SC 5.0. We don’t get them in the UK. Presume that they are slightly more common in the States, did think that most were SC though. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Very Happy Hi! Really nice example you've got yourself there Thrillcat, I bet that normally aspirated 5.0 V8 is a smooth as warm syrup.

That looks so cold where you are, Thrillcat, but the car looks great Very Happy

As NMJ mentions - try clearing the codes first in case any are historical and then see which ones return.

I would also make sure your battery is in good condition and fully charged - these cars don't like weak batteries.

Good luck with it mate and hope you get the little niggles sorted out - you will love the car when it is running right!

Cheers, Mark

I hope you enjoy the car... You have the 2012, and they had just about got it right before the new model/shape /tin can came in... so i hope there won’t be to many surprises for you.

I’m always surprised there are so few diesels in the USA - with gas so cheap , at least you won’t need a bank loan to fill your new toy up.

best
Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

It finally poked above freezing today, so I got some of the salt off of it and took a few better photos...
