A BMW version of the BM54 so I can use the 3.5mm aux in socket BMW sell. In fact, the socket should be in at the local BMW stealers in the morning. 2006 Mercedes CLS

Yes mate, was just about to pm you about it, thanks for the info, one of the best upgrades I've done yet, I only ever really listen to Radio 1 or my Ipod/phone so this has been a god-send, Cheers 2006 Mercedes CLS

ok so lets get this clear, you swapped your old bm54 for a later one, this gave you an aux in so you could use your iphone, as dan said, it should support cd text..i take it after the swap you had an extra loom that connected to the radio and then gave you a 3.5 jack plug. what other things did you notice. Yeah, swapped the radio tuner for a BMW version of the BM54 2003>, ordered the BMW aux input cable from BMW that plugs into the radio tuner, this gives you a 4th option on the source selection, Radio>CDC>Tape>Aux, extended the cable to the centre console, bought one of these leads... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...K:MEWNX:IT I've made it so the dock connector is poking out from the side of the gear lever trim, plugged the cable into a USB cigarette lighter adapter inside the cubby box, so when I plug my phone in, it now charges it and plays simultaneously and I get good sound quality, much better than an fm modulator, cost less than an Intravee setup and I still get to keep my CD changer. Not sure about the CD text bit though, I would have thought that would be controlled by the CD changer not the radio module, I'll give it a whirl though. Best bit is, after buying all the bits, I'm still £30 or £40 in profit! I'll put some pics up of it later. All thanks to Ajay for the heads up about it. 2006 Mercedes CLS 1991 Retro-style Mini But really finding it hard to fight the urge for a S/C... |

The CD changer is already CD text compatible, it needs the later (like wot u have) BM54 to be able to display though.

From my dark and merky past when I had an X5 ....a long long time ago......(2001-2004) I recall that towards the end of ownership the issue of CD Text was a hot topic on the forums, I think Dan is partly correct but I am sure you needed a newer CD changer too as this was another possible upgrade that I orginally planned for my FFRR. Can't really see the point though especially as my DVD changer plays DVD audio mp3's with menus

Actually, thinking about it, I don't need an MP3 changer, I've got my iphone with about 2000 tracks on, that was the whole idea of the BM54 swap.
