I always put the key in, in the right place, it's when I go to leave the car, I end up stroking the steering shroud |

I've never had a problem with that (thank goodness), but I remember coming to Europe from the US years ago with a colleague who'd been driving a Porsche 911 for a few months after driving big American boats all his life. We got into the rental Benz - he was going to drive to our meeting while I'd have to do the return trip. I was just relaxing and getting ready to continue my wonderful nights' sleep that had been so rudley interrupted by the plane landing as he accelerated out of the airport. Suddenly, just as the automatic gearbox was about to change gear, he slammed on the brakes and we came to an instant stop with all sorts of suitcases, papers and breakfast rolls flying throught the car. His answer to my 'Hellwazzat?' was 'I.... I don't know'. In my tired and dazed state (after hanging in the seatbelt at 1G) it took me a moment or 2 to realize he'd stamped the clutch pedal.... ![]() ![]() RRC 2Dr, RRC 4Dr, P38, and 2 L322s (wife thinks I'm nuts - prob right, too) |

I've seen that done with a Benz where they stamped on the e-Brake pedal believing it was the clutch- good for testing the structural integrity of the seat belts, less good for me with quite a strong hangover (Oktoberfest!) ![]() |
