Range Rover Experience - I broke the 4.4!

I just got back from a great day at the Land Rover experience in the Chilterns near Milton Keynes. The one on one experience started with a 90 minute road test taking the car up to 95 mph testing the adaptive cruise (scary but it works) and accelerating hard using the flappy paddles. Overal amazing performance.

Later we headed offroad on the Estate Circuit and switched the settings into Low Ratio and then moved about from Mud & Ruts through Rock Crawl and even Snow & Gravel on the easier bits. Its great to properly understand the way the different setting work and we even did a "Launch Control" start which is only possible in the Sand setting! (You put in Sand and then floor the accelerator pedal - its starts moving slowly to get grip and then rockets away like lightning!!!) Its designed to get you moving fast on sand in the Desert....

Part of the course includes a VERY mudy rutted track following a stream and the ruts were 1 foot deep in thick soggy mud but the 4.4 in road tyres made light work of it in "Mud & Ruts" and behaved impecably only requiring light touches of throttle and no brakes.....

On the subject of no brakes: They had not been needed yet when we get to the crest of a very steep decline into a stream when the instructer say use the brake to stop on the crest....However on applying the pedal the car kept going and pedal sank to the floor Big Cry However the car went over the lip and the hill decent control caught it and directed it safely down the incredibly steep slope. Great cars work even when they are broke so we continued driving the course as the brakes were not really needed!

Overal highly recommended for anybody thinking of a 4.4 or going offroad for the first time Thumbs Up

Should do they thought there might be air in the system and would bleed it!

You will have a great day out I really enjoyed it. Get there early and relax with a nice coffee and Land Rover magazine in the lounge - I was there nearly an hour early Whistle .

LRE days are always well worth it especially if you pay for the full day. Also a good day out is the Home of the Legend Gold day at Solihull - start with a flat piece of steel sheet in the pressing room and then progress through all the build stages of a FFRR/RRS/D4 as it goes down the production line. There is only one place you don't see into and that's the paint shop. End the day on the factory on site LRE driving on the proving tracks the factory uses and the jungle track. The full day outing is expensive but if you arrive early you get breakfast as well as a superb buffet lunch and afternoon tea thrown in. You also get the chance to buy stuff from the on site Land Rover Gear shop.
When Disco3 and RRSport forums first started we did a group outing as it gets less expensive the more people that go in the group. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

They'll just take a car off the line. A jet wash at the end of it an the new owner will never know...

I'm on my Free LRE day in a couple of weeks. There's 8 of us, and we have 4 of the cars all day Very Happy

Really looking forward to it.

A few of the lads from work went yesterday as a result of the offer last month, they had a great time, and were surprised that there was absolutely no sales pitch! Apologies if i've posted this on my phone and it contains strange spelling and punctuation.. i just can't be bothered to correct it Very Happy

I was there today. In the 4.4. The brakes did the same thing as Gaz had. Suggested that it was the sludge n water that was causing the issue. Other than that an interesting and pleasant afternoon. Kevin said "Hi Garry". Ian

Kevin was very helpful and knew his offroad technique very well Thumbs Up
