@nicedayforit:

I don’t see it as a “no brainier”. If you buy a used FFRR outright at £25,000 and use the same £2,700 deposit, the monthly payments would be £653 per month (assuming that the OP is in the nice position of being able to call on £22,300 of unsecured finance, at 3.0% APR). That’s £203 per month extra, or £7,308.00 over the 3 year term, in order to be able to own an asset in 3 years that might be worth £10,000.

It’s really not that clear cut at all.

JAYBOY I agree with you about the 'everything through the screen' not being as practical, I had a Disco Sport as a loan car last week and changing channels on the radio was sometimes several screen taps, distracting from the road ahead. I've seen that criticism in reviews too. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Thanks for all your comments and guidance peeps.

Well, I mosied down to my local Dealer this week (the one who tried to rip me off for £1200 for an ABS module which was fully working!). got inside the Velar and initial impressions were good. A bit smaller than i am used to but nonetheless a fairly nice place to be, albeit the seats grabbed my kidneys a bit. Info system was fairly good to use.

However on looking at putting the few essentials in that I would need I realised that this car comes with practically nothing as standard!! No Air suspension, no heated steering wheel, No heated rear seats, NO spare wheel etc etc - And to cap it all, £140 for a set of jump leads! Whistle Is JLR having a giraffe??

Thought I would compare the inside dimensions to a sport so asked to have a look inside - It was locked - "Is not unlocked"? asked the very nice receptionist. No I replied, hence why I am asking you to get someone to open it. "Ok, I will get someone to open it. Are you interested in used or new?" (me) "not really sure either way. Just want to sit in this one adn see what they are like!"

25 minutes later (Just as I was just about to leave) a geezer comes with a set of keys and leaves. They really have to do better than that!

so anyway, as many of you will have guessed by now, decision made!! I am probably going to look at 2011/2012 FFRR models instead of a velar. Thumbs Up
