Fire in the FF - RIP

The aircon caught fire

- happened this morning on the way to work. Between this and the fire brigade spraying a number of gallons of water behind the dash I cant see the FF coming back from it.....

Not sure - the blower fan started going mad then shut off, a fizzing and popping sound came from behind the dash then smoke appeared in the footwell at which point I vacated the car. By the time the fire truck turned up there were flames coming out of the top of the bonnet. QUID FACIUM TIBI

Sad for your FFRR but at least you're safe Thumbs Up

It'll be a write off so prepare for an argument with your insurers about value...... Shocked 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

Glad you are ok, that's the main thing.

You won't be getting that car back - would you even want it back?

Time to start looking for a replacement and possibly fighting for value with your insurance company.

Good luck Alex

Ok we have seen melted Final Stage Resistors but ones that caused the whole front of the car and ac ductwork to catch alight.
Sorry for your loss but i do hope this is not a fault that could happen on other cars

Sorry to hear of your issues but glad no one was hurt.

I'd advise taking a look at the Insurance Ombudsman site which gives you loads of great information so you know what to expect.

But in essence your insurer should be offering a sum sufficient enough to buy a similar car from a reputable seller at the time of the issue. So I'd advise taking some screen shots of similar vehicles / mileages etc on the Autotrader just so you have a bench line for future negotiations. Good Luck!! 2016 SDV8 Autobiography

As others have said ...

Really, very sorry about your FFRR.

But glad you’re ok.

Sad as it is, your car can be replaced.

But you can’t. What do I put here then?
