Planning on following the diy on doing these but I may need to remove the rocker covers again in future if I ever need to do the guides and or tappets...

So I wondered once I have changed the gaskets can I remove the cover and refit again without changing the gasket set again?

Your not really meant to reuse gaskets and for the sake of the cost for two new ones if it was me i would just replace them again.

Also if you use the dab of silicone in the spots your meant too when replacing to stop any leaks your old gaskets will have some silicone on them and would be hard to clear off without damaging the old gaskets. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

I think I will get shot down here but bimmerforums claim the cheapest and ieasiest fix is to replace the washers on the bolts with slightly thicker steel washers to make the gasket compress more.... thoughts? Current stable:

Up to you what you do, be careful not to snap the bolts if they get overtightened just make sure use torque wrench.

But personally just replace the gaskets it’s not a big job, little bit rtv gasket sealer on certain points when putting new on and should have no leaks for many years if all done correctly. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

Any ideas how many nm to tighten to? Current stable:

Download RAVE as the torque setting is in there but it’s not that high. There are metal inserts that are fitted in the cover bolt seals to stop over tightening the covers.
The original seals turn to hard brittle plastic and mine all snapped up when I changed them. The important part is the correct loctite sealant either side of the half moon cut outs and also where the upper timing covers joints are.
If the seals have already been replaced before you could potentially reuse them but as already pointed out I would just replace them anyway, I used Febi ones last time

I assume you mean Newton metres, not nanometres?
