Refurb G/Box supplier?

Ok so after flushing and filter change on my 2004 TD6 the auto box still goes into fail mode when car changes into 5th. Is driveable in Sports and does not go into fault.

Kinda guess it’s time for a refurb Box to be fitted.
Any recommendations and rough price? I’m in Kent/Essex. M25 Jin 1/30 area

Cheers

I just had mine done at A1 Premier in St Neots. Might be a bit of a way but the price was OK, and it drives beautifully now. Just over £2K with the converter. They flow test the oil cooler too and replace if needed.

Ah ok. Could be an option. Thanks!
Was kinda guessing around £2k.

Not ideal close to Christmas but may have to happen I guess. Oil and filter change didn’t help Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

Laughing I thought the exact opposite..... the name of his company is 5hp24 - which is the code for the 5 speed GM box....

Cheers so much guys. Distance isn’t a major issue as it still drives in sport mode.
Will have a shop around and try get some prices as unfortunately that’s gonna play a bit of a role too.

I’m still not 100% convinced box is totally u/s. When it’s in fault mode it makes a noise in D and R and limp mode. Clear the fault with Icarsoft and there’s no noise and pulls and changes ok. It will go back into fault when it tries selecting 5th

Clear the fault and drive it in sport and it drives ok. No noise all day.

So kinda hopeing I can find a company that isn’t just gonna default throw a new box in IF it doesn’t need it. (Although I think it does) Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

Thanks so much.
As say car is driveable so happy to go where needed to get a good job at sensible price and not get ripped off.

Will call them today to get a real ballpark figure.

Thanks

It's the other side of the M25 from you, but STA in Aylesbury (https://www.staautogearbox.co.uk/) have been used by a few people on here including me and have a very good reputation. If I had another full fat, then I would use them or RRPhil.

^^ I second that... And a little secret... if you ask nicely they will fit a brand new torque converter (as opposed to rec) for about £100 more! Well worth doing Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Oh awesome! Thanks for the info.
The car does drive fine in Sport. Well it Drove back 10mile ok.

I know I shouldn’t be looking to save money but price is going to play a part in where I go. I want to find somewhere that’s been used before, recommended but I also appreciate that pay pennies get monkeys. So I’m gonna have to ring round some you guys suggest.

I’m hopeing it don’t go a million miles over the £2k figure.

Nuts and bolts I’m ok with and would attempt, and 10 years younger I’d be getting under there myself for, but those days are gone now I’m afraid.

Thanks I really appreciate any advise.

Cheers

I'll third it Very impressed with STA and new converter fitted. Also modify the control block with upgraded control valves and you get a warranty for your hard earned. Thumbs Up
