Rear subframe bushes - are they the same as the BMW X5

As it says, the rear bushes that join the subframe to the body of the car need done.

I've looked at the various posts on how to do it, which is fine enough, however there is a poly bush set for the x5 ...

I'm just wondering whether the x5 shares the same rear bushes as the rr ... They look very very similar. V8 or else ...

As to your question I don't know but as a word of warning I put poly bushes on my p38 two different sets and ended up replacing with oem it does change the ride and handling - in my case it was too harsh - probably great for offload -sure someone will disagree Very Happy

Yep I understand regarding poly-bushes

The BMW X5 E53 tool is listed on Ebay £60 yet no mention of it suiting an L322

I need to replace my subframe bushes and anything to make it an easier process is appreciated - lol 2009 - L322 5.0 S/C Autobiography

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

The Sealey tool for doing X5 bushes fits the L322 perfectly as do X5 bushes (although there are some very slight differences in the Meyle HD ones that mean the lower washer simply has to be manually centred, rather than there being a moulding on the bush - doesn't seem to make any difference). I did mine earlier this year. Drives:

+1 ... I wish I had known that years ago. I essentially sold my old RR cause of the job of doing the rear subframe bushes ( it was 1 job too many, too big ) as I didn't have the right tools.


I'll know this time round ! V8 or else ...

You're very welcome. I did mine in much the same way as described in the Wiki. It's time consuming and pretty hard work if doing it on axle stands, but it can be done. I did the upper and lower hub carrier bushes at the same time.

On the M62 V8 you need to lower the exhaust (doesn't have to be removed) by undoing all of the rear silencer mounts and gently lowering it on a jack and then supporting it. Those mounting bolts need very careful handling if rounding them off is to be avoided. I soaked them in WD40 for a few days (giving them a dose twice daily) and then got some heat into them from a gas blowlamp. Drives:

I kinda did ... but never fully finished it. It was all just one job too many at the time. It didn't help our son had just arrived, and strangely, the wife thought that I ought to spend my time fixing nappies than the car ... Question Question Question Rolling Eyes .
