both your problems might be related to a dodgy battery...how old is it and has it been tested?

could be a fuse or could be that you switched them off..i read somewhere that the FFRR interior lights can be switched of so that the battery wont be run down when you have all the doors open.[for whatever reason]

try dis-connecting the battery for 1/2 hour...make sure the car has been standing for about 20 minutes to let all the ecu's discharge before disconnecting the battery..

forgot to mention, when the battery is re-connected , turn the steering wheel full to the left and then full to the right..this resets the steering parameters...

Do the interior lights work when you open other doors? If so then the switch on the drivers door sounds funked Ian
