Disc replacement l405

Car is in for 2nd year service and needs new front discs at just under 10k miles. Now setting aside that this seems early, been quoted £950 but online it says £580 from same dealer or other London ones. Their explanation was mine needs different pads. Not sure I believe any of it

So any ideas how much disc and pads would be on 2016 model SDV8?

I did the calling another branch of same dealer but they didn't know at the call centre and couldn't get through to actual service desk

Andy why does it need discs at all and how did you get through the pads so quickly.
Mine had its 2 year service, has done 30,000 miles and rear pads are 90% worn. letters not necessarily in the right order

Discs at less than 10k miles!!! Surely the word 'warranty' has been used? Drives:

Seems odd to me. I'd be asking for the thickness of the discs to check min permissible etc

For comparison, the average of 50 to 60,000 miles seems normal for 4.4 tdV8 L322’s. (6pot brembo’s).front. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

Story is I bought the car as ex demo on 4K miles. Brakes were squeaking from collection. They changed the lads but it came back. Took it to reputable independent who identified a score in one disc which was probable cause for the noise. Sent it back to Lr dealer who said they couldn't recreate noise. But recommended changing front discs. At my expense. Email to salespeople went unanswered

Dealership now has the car for service and I have indeed questioned why how discs could be 60% worn at 9k miles especially given it had new pads at 5k miles. Will see hat they say but service advisor basically expecting me to pay the 950 pounds for from discs and pads

I raised a claim with lr customer service but they have gone quiet too - I will try calling them

If the discs are 60% worn and the pads are ok then leave it.

Get them to provide the discard thickness and then your disc measurement.

It may be that you have asked them to look into the squeaking noise this time, this is what they have found as a possible cause of the noise. How long ago did you buy the car? If less than 6 months then the dealer will have to sort at their cost regardless.

It's a year now. But it was identified on collection of car and they attempted to fix by changing pads. Then they said I need to pay for the discs.

Just tried calling 4 garages to check price on the discs and pads. 2 didn't answer, one didn't know and will call back by lunchtime, one said 300 pounds and then when I said that seems wrong changed to 740

All seems very amateurish .

So I told them not to do the brakes and I will see if LR customer services come back to my email chaser. Dealer had no interest in helping with a warranty/loyalty claim etc.

Got the car back which I delivered to them clean - had it washed the night before. They told me to come an hour later as they were washing it

Car is filthy, covered in grease marks, mud or concrete residue, what looks like sand in the window seals and some scratches on the front bumper one of which is a foot wide (tho looks polish able). I took a video of it in their car park

I wanted the car this evening so it is going back tomorrow for them to wash and polish out the scratches. No rest for me then on my day off as need to be there at 8am

So I pay them 1200 pounds for service and 3 wheel refurbs and this is the standard of their service. Happened to a colleague too plus a bunch of other things. Yes I could have gone else where but just don't have time to travel for this
