If it runs sweet, check to make sure all genuine parts fitted. The key to a good Supercharged is in the maintenance and your right if it runs like a dog then its probably been abused and not serviced.

some 5.0's suffered from front end rattle so i'd make sure this has been done..other than that they are pretty reliable..

RR Dealers are sometimes difficult about sharing Service Histories...data protection and all that. It might be worth discounting your offer price by ££££ because of the gap in the history. The seller may say that's already taken into consideration in the price, but if he is keen to sell and that's the only barrier to you buying the car he/she might shift. |

What I did with my old Spitfire was I contacted the garage that has done the recent MOT's and explained that I was the second owner of the car (in 1974!) and that I had often wondered what had happened to it. The guy at the garage very kindly sent my contact details to the current owner and he contacted me the following day.

Bought mine with all the stamps but no other documents. So rang the dealer, spoke the the service manager - explained and whilst they said they couldn't give me copies of invoices (data protection and all that), they read out everything done since new.

Thinking about it,if it did do 60,000 miles in two years without a service, and didn't fail an MoT then it's clearly not one of the unreliable ones.

Some times you just have to bite the bullet. If you have driven a few,know what you are looking for and feel that the current owner is legit then i would not be too concerned.

The vendor has agreed to thrown in a full service. That way every one knows that all has been covered.
