I have been away working in France when I got back found the digital tuner kit had arrived.
I carried out the mod the other day took me less than an hour to do and I have to say I am very impressed with the results. The longest part of the fitting was drilling the holes for the Ariel sockets and the mounting screw holes for the usb socket.
Fired it up and works absolutely perfectly. Using the existing ariels the reception is brilliant and I am in a weak signal area.

I tried to order the board from oz but listed as out of stock and no reply to emails. So ordered the complete kit from this guy called Toby in China. Came with everything you need board and tuner ready assembled, adapters for the ariels and a usb lead for recording or playing music/movies. Easy instal and perfect reception. Activated tv in motion so I can use the digital radio channels as well

Yes, I got the DTV board from Toby, too. I think the bloke in Oz supplies him with the other board. Ron B. VK2OTC

how would you identify the unit?

If you look at the listing there are pictures of the 3 different types fitted they are numbered type 1 type 2 type 3 the most common is the type 1 Lear unit which is the easiest to mod.
I made an error in my previous post its not the type of bmw54 you need to identify its the type of tv unit you have fitted sorry for any confusion there.

sorry but i must be missing something, i've visited the site allixpress, typed in bmw digital tv, but nothing that resembles the pictures that are in the link up top

Type in Buson or google Buson if you google Buson digital tuner the aliexpress listings will come up you want the $149 kit.
