V8 in limp home, no codes stored

Hi,
We have a 2006 supercharged v8 in that randomly goes into limp home, you can be driving normally, dash flashes up "engine fault", car goes into limp home until you cycle the ignition again, then all is fine. Can do it multiple times a day, then not for a few days. EML light does not come on and there are no engine related fault codes stored each time we scan it with our Snap On kit! (Which normally picks things up!)
All feedback welcome!
Cheers,
rattly
