Tv screens in headrests...

How easy is it to fit them and can they be linked to the TV so that rear seat passengers can continue to watch TV whilst the car is in motion. If they can be linked up, what is involved?

On that note, can the TV be adapted so that it continues to broadcast whilst driving for front seat passengers benefit?

you can get the tv to play on the front screen with the addition of a cable. its the same system as in BMW's, I had it on my M5 and it takes about 5 mins to fit. i got one 2nd hand for £100 a few years back. You can get them on eBay new now for less.

Do some searches for tv in motion bmw for fitting it etc as below.

Nice one, cheers. Where is this plug that has to be disconnected- under the dash or in the rear of the car?

Ok- so how do the headrest TV's connect to the main system? Is there a wiring loom we can buy or something?

I've thought about this myself a little - and surely there must be a mod out there somewhere...

Although I've not looked into it yet, surely someone on here is ahead of the curve!

This was also on the bimmerfest forum. Can anyone confirm that it works on RR's?

Watch TV / Videotext during driving

This works on all 5/7 Series with the Mark I Navigation System (the one with the male voice).

On Mark II (the newer version with the female voice) you have to use "brightness" instead of contrast for TV and "color" instead of brightness for videotext to get the trick to work.

This works on the latest 99 7-series models as well. This does not appear to work for the latest BMWs sold in Europe (2000 onward, 3/5/7 series). The software updates for latest navigation CD-ROM's do not appear to affect or disable this trick.

1. set ignition to pos. II
2. enter TV mode
3. enter "settings"
4. enter "contrast"
5. when the green contrast bar is visible, push the knob and keep it pressed
6. turn ignition off (keep button pressed!)
7. wait 8-10 seconds (timing must be accurate!)
8. release the knob
9. turn on ignition again

Now the TV will operate while the car is in motion, though you certainly should leave that to your passengers only while driving. To watch videotext use the same procedure as above, but choose "brightness" instead of "contrast"

You need the TV in motion module for this to work OR there is a software tool called NAVCODER that you can download and connect to your RR using a coding tool http://www.reslers.de/IBUS/

navcoder

http://www.x5world.com/navigation-system/4...eased.html

Will need to make an adapter for it to connect to the RR or pull out the cd changer from the glovebox which is a 2 hour deal to pull out and get back in

Here are instructions for removing the CD changer http://www.roverupgrades.com/Range_Rover_MP3_Cd_Changer.html
