I'm a bit of a dinosaur - it's taken me a long time to get used to the digital age - but once I work out how to get them a) into my camera and b) onto those pages I'll put some up. |

Now into week 4 of ownership and so far so good . . . ish! Took the liberty of taking the motor in to my local 4x4 specialist (they've looked after both my Pajeros, my Santa Fe, Grand Vitara and Disco over the past 15 years and I can't fault them service-wise) so that they could give it a once over on their ramps before I sent it back to the dealer. List is now slightly longer than original - track rod end, a couple of anti-roll bar droplinks, couple of bushes, but nothing too drastic - just need the dealer to get back to me. Still haven't got the sidesteps mounted; I'm currently waiting for a day in W. Berks when it doesn't rain!

Update on the Range Rover - following on from the used car dealership I bought the car from (run it for a couple weeks, if you're not happy let me know and I'll get it sorted) I left it at a local garage last Wed night to get a list of 'stuff' done. New track rod end, new ARB links, new rear discs, pads & shoes, all done at dealer's expense.

Well, my sortie into the world of Range Rover ownership hasn't been quite as simple as I'd hoped but after almost 4 years with an aged Disco 2 TD5 I've become immune to the trials and tribulations that come with the green oval badge!

I love mine. Have had a few moments when I want to get rid of it as it can be very frustrating, especially when LR had it for three weeks this summer to try and fix a fault that they did finally in the end. Still have a knock that no one can trace though.

The saga continues! Range Rover is now into its 4th week away from chez moi; had an air suspension problem sorted, now the limp mode problem is being investigated. I've had the motor for just over 3 months now but it's spent over 4 weeks of that time having various issues sorted under warranty. A frank discussion with the dealer last night now gives him to the end of this week to get the motor back to me, or he keeps it and I walk away with a full refund.

All I can do is keep my fingers crossed, I suppose. The long-haired general and I are going up to Wigan from Berkshire on Friday night to attend a reunion this weekend. I'm toying with the idea of using the Rangie if it's back in time; Wigan and back would certainly be a good test run for it, but I think I'm more likely to take the Disco - going by recent history, it's less likely to let me down! Well, it looks as though my sojourn into the wonderful world of Range Rovers is going to be somewhat shorter than I'd intended ! Another deadline has come and gone; it was going to have been back with me by this Monday at the very latest, it's now Wednesday and I've heard nothing . Think I'll be visiting the dealership tonight, complete with V5 and handbooks and getting used to life with my dependable old TD5 again. I'd still like to upgrade it, but I'll wait until I get things sorted out with the return of this Rangie first. Will it be another one? Hmmm, not sure about that at the moment - there are a couple of nice TD6s for sale locally . . . but there's also a very nice Disco 3! L322 TDV8 4.4 - current

Shame, Disco 3's are nice. I had one before this and it went wrong and cost more than the RR to run and maintain.

My apologies for turning this into the RR version of a soap opera! Saw dealer tonight for a chat - now had rear brakes, suspension compressor and a fuel pump done under warranty; pointed out that I haven't had the motor for 6 weeks out of the 14 I've owned it for - so he pushed the warranty out a bit further - happy with that!
