Fixed side steps are the way to go: always there when you need them, can't see them once in the car so not a problem that they haven't retracted, can't break down - get stuck in, better ground clearance hold the front mudguard in place, no extra switches to fiddle with or fix,...nothing to deplore about them Thumbs Up .

In Manhattan I've seen people put old carpet over their front and rear bumpers when they have parked. Presumably another "touch parking" city...... Shocked 2021 D350 Fifty Edition
