I wish it would rain!

You British might think I'm mad but I wish it would rain (a little bit). It's been about 3 months since we've had any rain - the last I can recall was on Queen's Birthday Weekend in June. I remember because it was a long weekend and it rained (well, sprinkled) for the first 100km as I headed 1,000km north to the AULRO Admin and Moderators Get-Together (I'm an Admin).

My lawn/grass is dying off. I can't test my rain-sensing wipers properly. I can't find my raincoat so that might be a problem if it rains but I did find an umbrella today whilst cleaning out the garage. Thumbs Up

It's only Spring and already we've had 36 deg C days - fortunately, it's not too hot yet. Summer might be, though.

Ah, well, it's going to be cooler tomorrow (23C) so I'll go for a ride on my XJR1300 as a break from looking at Land Rovers all weekend at the LR Expo here in Sydney. Ron B. VK2OTC

I moved over from London to the West Coast for a sunnier life. No Sun here just storm after storm coming from the Antartic with howling winds and torrential hail and rain. You just need to move West a bit. 2007 TDV8 VSE

United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Baltic Blue

It's not just Australia.
I am enjoying some late summer sunshine in Portugal at the moment.
It has been 28c each day for the last week, but seeing the forest fire damage all over the Algarve and talking to the villa owner where we are staying , it has been the hottest driest summer he has ever known, with temperatures going over 40c at its peak. (hence why we deliberately holiday late September/ October.

Hmm, Stan, I think that might be a bit more than I want.

Wayneg, having lived in Carnarvon for a couple of years (that's in Oz, not the UK for others on the forum) I have experienced West Australian weather - although they were cyclones. Ron B. VK2OTC

Lucky beggars. We didn't get any. I might go for a motorcycle ride - that might bring the rain. Ron B. VK2OTC

They have been burning off the last few days and there has been lots of smoke over parts of the metro area
It was a bit like the fog we used to get in England when I was a kid.
We had quit strong winds and a fair bit of rain last night, so I think it will have cleaned the air RR 2005 4.4 petrol

There's been a lot of smoke here, too. I'm not sure if the plume I could see rising off the mountain range behind me (I'm about 1km from the mountains) was from burning off or a bushfire.

I just had a look at the Fires Near Me app and the smoke is from hazard reduction over 259ha about 10km from here. There are about 5 hazard reduction fires in a 50km radius of here.

The sun is breaking through the cloud so rain is unlikely. I guess I'll have to put the sprinkler on the lawn tonight.

At least it's cool today (19 deg C at the moment). Ron B. VK2OTC
