Whenever the car tells you..... It has a sensor that checks oil quality.

Whether or not we believe in 12 month intervals, it’s a potential source of “get outs” for any future extended warranty claim and tends to indicate that the original owner might not have cared for the car as much as I’d have liked. The fact that the dealer either didn’t know this pretty vital piece of information or, worse still, might have fibbed wouldn’t fill me with confidence. |

Ours never came with a stamped service book as we were told it's all done electronically now on the L405. Rendering the 'book' concept redundant. The idea being that the service history is computer accessible across the LR network (I do have copies of all the service and maintenance receipts as proof of history though)? |

When I stated 'the service book' this was actually the printout from the online records that the dealer provided.

It is possible that the owner did not use the LR network to service the car. That's not fatal if so.

Oh dear, if there’s a 2 1/2 year and 25,000 mile gap in the service record, the dealer hasn’t already thought to ask that question of the previous owner (before buying the car and putting it on the forecourt) and he mislead you over service intervals, then I’d be running a mile and finding another dealer, pronto!! |

I can understand 12 monthly services in very humid conditions. I’m in the subtropics and do Services by km rather than time.

The bottom line is it hasn't been serviced as per manufacturer's requirements, they therefore can refuse to do any possible warranty work in the future. |

I would think it impossible for a main dealer to sell it with a warranty if that were the case....... |

I had this on a D4 Lux I nearly purchased from a MD on the south coast. They offered to give it an extra service to bring it back into line and they were able to put a 2 year AUC warranty on it.

LR told me it's a clean slate moment when a main dealer takes a car in and puts it through the multi point checks and puts an A.U warranty on it... and that was confirmed in writing. They all say different things.

Apologies to jump on this post, I purchased my vehicle at the end of August this year from the Stratstone Land Rover Approved Scheme and have done £3.5K miles since. After about 5 weeks the car notified service was due in 1k. Vehicle is now saying due a service. If correct should I be expected to pay for this or should the car of had 12 months service upon collection? Seems strange I’m having to pay for a service 10 weeks into ownership? Thanks. Dan |

What did they tell you when you bought it ? Did they say it had been serviced ? Or supply a service history printout ?
