Dear all, I fancy these for my forthcoming 09 Autobiagraphy. It currently has the fixed rubber variety which I really dont like the look of.

Seen some new original deployable sets at circa £400 on Ebay, has anyone fitted these and do they come with all the bits needed? The picture shows some very exposed looking motors and actuators! Hard to believe there shouldnt be some kind of cover or gaiter for these...

@Lester, the motors are sealed enough to cope with "normal" driving. All cabling and access to cabin is adequate too. They are actually very well made.

If you are intending to be driving through mud or sill level water often, they may not be for you...

I got the full kit off Duckworths on here for less than £400. There's 2 versions, but you'd have the same as mine since which was that price. The kit you show in your photo is incomplete. There's an ECU and wiring loom(s) also.

Fitting is a bit awkward but easily done on your own. Little scary how much of the interior has to come off, but all easy stuff.

I also recommend mud flaps to reduce the road crud hitting the steps. They get dirty very quickly without. __

Cheers all. Not intending to be a mud plugger, but will take the advice about retaining front mud flaps.

I've just replaced my fixed ones with these and am really pleased. The fixed ones had literally crumbled away to dust and actually broke when my wife stood on them (bit odd as the paperwork with the car suggests they were only 3 years old).

The deployables seem wider and nicer to use than the fixed ones. I probably will do some light off roading so will have to be careful with them! 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

I'm thinking of changing my rusty old fixed side steps for deployables, mine have been on since the car was new and it's a 2009 model so can't complain about them being rusty really. My question is do the deployable steps use the same holes that the old fixed ones use? And if they do I'm hoping the bolts will come out and leave nice clean bolt holes for the new steps. 2009 Vogue SE Zermatt silver

Mine did. Soak them in plus gas or something equivalent first though!

The walk through in the wiki suggests that you might want to retap them to clear the threads but I didn't need to. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

It wouldn't hurt to find out what they would charge.

I had help from family with mine. I found the instructions quite hard to follow but they did make sense eventually! It's very satisfying. 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE
