Nav/camera screen reset after startup on '12MY Vogue | |
Been driving my '12MY 4.4 Vogue for just over three months now and I love it. A couple of times I've noticed the that the nav/camera screen reboots for a second time after switching on the engine and immediately selecting reverse to back out my parking space. On startup I get the Range Rover screen and then either the nav confirmation screen (or whatever screen it was on at last shutdown) or the rear camera screen, depending on how quickly I select reverse. Sometimes once I've selected reverse and the rear camera view appears, the screen will then go black and then I get the Range Rover screen again and I have to wait until the rear camera view appears again.
Anyone else experienced this? How often does it occur? I'd estimate it occurs for me once in perhaps 20 starts so I can't really reproduce the problem on demand. Is it a known problem? Something that can be solved with a software update maybe?
After the reboot everything is fine although the last time this happened I received a CAMERA SYSTEM FAULT message or similar and the surround Cameras option in the main menu screen was then disabled. They were enabled again after an engine restart.
My dealer said it's because I'm selecting reverse too quickly before the system boots up but I'm not aware LR state that you should wait for this before selecting reverse . As far as I can remember it only occurs in connection with selecting reverse after startup, not while driving.
Never had this problem on my '08 Vogue 3.6. In fact in 5 years of ownership I think the screen crashed maybe only three times and it was not related to selecting reverse or right after switching the engine on
I guess this is only a minor gripe but it's annoying when your backing out of a tight spot and need the rear camera view... 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 automatic (LHD), Santorini Black
