Broken Wheel stud

I just broke a rear wheel stud - has anyone got experience of fixing this and does anyone know if you can drive the car with only 4 nuts? Any help would be much appreciated.

The wheel nuts are primarily there to hold the wheel against the face of the hub. The actual weight of the vehicle is transferred through the central hole in the wheel and onto the corresponding projection of the hub.

The studs are usually a tight press fit into the back face of the hub. They have a splined type head to stop them turning once they are inserted. I'm not sure on the FFRR whether they are easy to change or involve a press or some type of heating and cooling to get a really tight fit. In theory as they are high tensile bolts you might be able to hammer it out from the front and then pull a new one through with a spacer and correct size steel nut (NOT the proper wheel nut as it's not designed for that type of torque).

I've not done this myself on a fattie but maybe someone's who has can confirm best way to go about it.

It'll be fine to drive it sensibly on 4 fixings for short distances until you get it fixed. 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

I changed the wheel studs on my 110. The above is good advice. The studs on my 110 came out really easily. Id me surprised if it was any different on a FFRR. ______________________________
