some mechanics are unbelievable

I am no master mechanic but the bodge I found when I went to replace my expansion tank this aft took the biscuit , this is my first RR so having never been under the bonnet of one i took the pipework to the tank to be as LR intended , so while refitting the pipes to the new tank I was a bit baffled as to why the pipe nearest the strut refuse to clip into place ?? then it hit me , someone had previously bunged up the pipe at the front of the tank which if you've swapped one you will know is the tank return / overflow to the rad , so of course the rear fitting is different , so once clipped to the front I topped up the coolant and all is well , I previously had noted the pressure on the expansion tank lid was a bit extreme but I guess it would be as it couldn't get away , it also explains why I was seeing fluctuation in the temp gauge reading but now its rock steady , so anyway , another small task completed on the big fella , on to the next one
