Gone.............a little tear in my eye..

That's it, my 2007 TDV8 (with Overfinch bits) has gone. A difficult decision, however when I worked out what I needed to spend on it over the next 6-9 months just to keep it on the road, and then added a healthy contingency, I simply decided that I would rather spend that money on something else - not a matter of not being able to afford it, just changing priorities I guess. The deciding factor was the dismal used value compared to what I paid for it in Jan 2016 (and what I've spent on it since then). I have traded it in for a Mitsubishi L200 (a couple of years old but only 13k miles), which will do everything I need from a car and will be significantly cheaper to run than the FF. It's obviously a different beast, and doesn't compare well with the FF in many departments, but that's not really the point. I managed to get my price for the FF from a local car dealer who recognised that it was worth a premium over book value. I have little doubt that I will be back in a Range Rover at some point, probably when prices for the L405 have dropped to 30k ish (although I can't stop myself looking at late-model L322 4.4 TDV8's.........). The rest of the family have a bet that the L200 won't last a year but we'll see....!!
This isn't an attempt to put anyone off owning a FF, far from it, just sharing what I hope is my logic with like-minded individuals. Thanks to all of you on this forum who have answered my questions, sold me bits, or bought my bits (still a couple of items for sale, please see 'for sale & wanted'....), over the last 18 months or so. I'm pretty sure I'll be back. 1982 SIII 88” diesel

Mine is currently in dry dock and I share your pain. It's a tough one isn't it? I have had a host of cars in my "watch list" but have decided to give the naughty kid in the corner another last chance. So a new compressor and a booking with a body shop to have all the little marks done with a full mop and detail. When will I learn....... Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

It's definitely an addiction, and non-car people just don't understand.....
It's a bit of a standing joke that I change my cars so often, and a number have been bought on a purely emotional level (the FF Supercharged that I owned a few years ago being a great example of this!). This time I'm trying to be sensible; I have had 'normal' cars in the past but if the emotional attachment is missing it's hard to keep them for long. What I've liked about the 3 FF's I've owned over the years is that they have felt special every time I've driven them, which has compensated to some degree for the (relatively) huge sums of money I have spent maintaining them. Perhaps the opposite will be true of the L200 - the amount of money I'm saving might compensate for the lack of emotional attachment! 1982 SIII 88” diesel

Feel your pain ruffy. My FF will be going in October.
I'm going for a new ford galaxy, certainly not our choice, but we have to be practical.
It will be nothing like the presence and drive of the ffrr, but needs must.
I will never say never, but the ffrr was an itch I had to scratch.
There is only one itch left to scratch, but that will be a lottery win. Laughing
