Indy hour rates - £115/hr seems high?

Wondering what people are paying around the land for Indy hourly service rates. I'm trying a new to me chap and his rate at £115/hr seems high?

What do you think?

. Cheers, Greg

Our local main dealer is £130 Neutral
An Indy is generally between £45-60 p/h

However, they are not in London...

Somewhat depends on how good he is Whistle

and whether he's charging for actual time worked vs book time

If he's getting it right first time & working at a good pace, then maybe he's good value ?

Find a new mechanic at that price, mine charge the job as hourly can be a con I've found over the years with a few places you'd save money going 10 20 mile. _____________________________________________________

£50-£70, the upper for a Ex-LR Mech turned indie.

Craig, what do u charge? That should give a good benchmark.

Is this meant to be for the L405 part of the forum? Rates may be different for newer vehicles? .

I've just been quoted about £260 for six hours, VAT will get sneaked on I'm sure but it's still only 50 quid an hour. the six hours is for a Service, MOT and fitting new supercharger (don't ask Evil or Very Mad ) Geoff

Would the labour rate change if the car was newer?? If so sounds much like a con to me

Joe90 this is for a 322.

His quote is for a number of jobs; one is 1.5 hours plus the 0 rings for the classic 4.4TDV8 oil pipe problem:
http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic35977....pe+o+rings
So that seems ok to me in terms of number of hours* (*although I have not done this) - it involves removing and replacing the pollen filter box to get to it.

. Cheers, Greg

...and just realised the £115 is ex vat. So that's £138inc

Shocked Shocked Shocked

If you forget about the hours then the oil leak o-ring job is £255inc vat
I don't know how simple/complex this job is.

. Cheers, Greg

Pollen filter removal on L322 - 5 minutes, tops.

Undo 2 x 13mm bolts and pull. .
