TD6 Transmission supplier ???

TD6 Transmission supplier.
Right gents, first off it seems my transmission is fine (touch wood) but my sons has a vibration at 45 / 55mph and can sometimes "thump" changing gear. So, the plan is, I buy a new (recon) transmission and TC and he has my old one. I'll change mine as it's done 115k and I want it done out of the way. His old one will go back in exchange.
Who's the man / firm to supply a recon box and tc ? Needs to be reputable, and someone who takes pride in their work. If spending that sort of money then I can't see the point in spoiling the ship for ha'peth of tar.
It will need shipping to me so can't see a problem with buying anywhere in the country.

Sent them an emai a fortnight ago, no reply. I'll ring them next week and see if they supply a recon box with deposit then return mine later for refund.

Thank you for the vote of confidence Stan Very Happy. However, I decided early on that I would just concentrate on the ZF 5HP24 transmission so, unfortunately, I don’t remanufacture the 5L40-E. Obviously personal recommendations from forum members would be the best source of information.

STA in Aylesbury say all the right things on their website (www.staautogearbox.co.uk), and most significantly they have their own Hydra-Test machine for checking the valve body assembly – the main Achilles’ heel of the GM box.

I have no personal experience of them but I guess others on here may have?

Phil

They look good phil, uprated valve block as standard Thumbs Up

Edit to say. Really think you should go into the GM box Phil, we can wait a few weeks while you set up (see how good I am)
