Didn't several large signs with C on them and the same large C painted on the road give the game away? |

Ah traffic... you obviously weren't close enough to the car in front so they could still see your numberplate with the camera. |

Even so from day one they have had the system to register and just direct debit automatically, which they have just brought in. They made too much on the fines though so boris has been holding back until now.

Drive a 12 seat Defender. You can drive in most bus lanes (just not the ones marked "local") and are excempt from the C charge. I used to do this and it was great to drive past queues of traffic legally in the bus lane in a 4x4 which the Mayor at the time was always slagging off. |

I hate the Ken with a vengeance but Boris got in with the manifesto of making it automated and omitting the western end, taken him long enough to do, i wonder why.. 2004 black Vogue TD6 |

Well just looked into this as i normally pay the conjestion charge via text, looking at my phone i did send a text that day. Got no reply to say it had gone or not gone through. The text the week before and the one the day after went throught fine so why not this one? I then rang 02 who confirmed that on the "unpaid" day the text did go through fine to their number and i will be charged for the premium rate text on my phone bill. So they had a glitch or choose not to take payment and send a fine instead.

Isn't there a simple solution for not paying the congestion charge?
