Non touch screen to touch screen ?

Right gents, first off I've looked at different threads and it's all mumbo jumbo to me to be honest. I'm 64 and don't understand a thing about androids and other gubbins.
My son has a 2005 FFRR with touch screen computer in the middle of the dash, I have a 2003 FFRR and mine's not touch screen. In simpletons terms what's involved, if possible, to convert mine to touch screen. My cd changer is missing but that's not important as I would never use it. I would however like the onboard computer to work (mpg, av speed etc) along with wireless and satnav. Mine has the system whereby you can set the radio for different settings such as jazz, cathedral, hall etc or set it yourself with sliders.

What's involved, how much and who would do it?

Yep, I know it's a pain trying to explain to a dumbass, but electronics just passed me by. Embarassed

TIA.

The computer network on the wires that the cars use to talk to the electronics is totally different. Yours is BMW based and your sons is Ford based. The car will not be able to talk to the touchscreen.

Your sons is fibre optic, yours isn't.

Yours is much easier to upgrade to a non standard aftermarket touch screen system. I've never done it though. Others will advise if that's what you fancy, but all your existing units are removed.

If it were me, I'd save my money and get a car like your sons....

Thanks for the reply. Not fussed about it being the same exactly as his, just the same priciple, ie touchscreen. Could change the motor but I like this one, I like the colour, the trim, the way it drives etc etc.

Hopefully someone will come along with an answer to what's needed, how much and who could do the job (I'm not messing).
