I passed one on the road today ... instantly recognisable as an RR coming towards you, but then a second after that you get the 'looks like an f-pace' thought as you look in the rear view mirror. You can really see the same platform design / body on both. V8 or else ... |

The FFRR is due to receive the Velar's HVAC controls soon - photographs of the developments cars are already elsewhere on this site. Expect the first examples to be in production by early next year.

saw the car yesterday at my dealer - it is tiny - on the good side: the new dashboard, seats and steering wheel - but the MY 2018 of the FFRR will get it too All my spelling errorz are belong to me!

If only that were so! I'm a big LR fan, but let's remember that Gerry McGovern pi**ed off at least half of the Discovery's customer base with the oddball D5 and have completely surrendered the Defender market with plenty of hints, but no real idea of when it will be replaced, if it happens at all. (Best farmer quote to date: "I've known castrated bulls come faster than the new Defender!") |

Very interesting review, I particularly liked this bit: "For everything else, you mostly have to poke around on the two touchscreens (actual name: InControl Touch Pro Duo) until you stumble across the feature you're looking for. In case you've never used a touchscreen car infotainment system while driving, let me tell you something: you really do not want to use a touchscreen while driving. The on-screen buttons are small. There's no feedback, haptic or otherwise, so you have to actually turn your head and look at the screen to make sure you've hit the right button. If you hit the the wrong button, which will regularly happen, you need to hit another small button to go back and try again. Generally I prefer to be focusing on the road when behind the wheel of a two-ton hunk of metal and leather." It did look fabulous when I saw it a few months ago, but I know exactly what he means. It seems as stupid as driving whilst trying to operate an iPad on the passenger seat I have no regrets in knowingly having ordered the very last of the current type on the FF. Getting the last of the adaptive Xenon's is a bonus too! It's a very nice looking car but the biggest deal breaker for me would be the lack of low range. Forgivable on cheaper cars like the Evoque and DS, but not at this price and no, the electronics are no substitute for low range. Having driven along a narrow single track over a mountain pass today (and being completely terrified of heights and very narrow roads, especially when crossing 45 degree scree slopes ) I was very grateful for the levels of control and the cool brakes afforded by using low range and paddle shifters to control decent speed. An ordinary car would have done it perfectly but, as a nervous wreck, I found it very reassuring all the same! Last edited by Red Merle on 10th Aug 2017 10:42am. Edited 2 times in total |

Having now had a proper look at the Velar range in the flesh at my dealer I have to say its a very impressive alternative and is strikingly attractive in the flesh. |

^^^^^^^I completely agree. When we ordered the FF we did look at the Velar too but I knew if I bought the Velar the FF itch still wouldn't have been scaratched.
