Proud Dad moment

My youngest daughter (aged 13) rides for West Hants Pony Club in the mounted games discipline. Yesterday the team went up against the 13 other teams in the south of the UK to win a place at the Horse of the Year show at the NEC in October. There they will face 5 other teams from around the UK all aiming to win and become the top team in the country. There are over 100 teams throughout the country and only 6 make it to the Horse of the Year show.

This is a great result for all of their efforts throughout the last 6 months with training between 2 and four times a week. Also made extra special as my eldest daughter also made it to Horse of the Year in 2014 on the same pony.

I know it probably means nothing to a lot of non horsey people but we are very proud parents right now. But now we need to fund raise to cover the cost of taking the team and parents/support crew to the show for the week. Only the kids that ride get a free ticket!

Absolutely brilliant, well done to the team and to your daughter. My middle daughter rode for the N Warks team a good few years back. Although she never made HOYS, I think the team did one year. She'll love it, my wife goes to HOYS every year (she's the horsey one qround here, horse dancing) and I go occasionally (I get bored in the shopping area!!). Drives:

2010 FFRR TdV8 Vogue SE - Zermatt Silver

Excellent achievement, aiming high and succeeding builds a fantastic work ethic.
Don't worry about the cost it will get far worse, my daughter arrived at university and promptly joined the polo team. letters not necessarily in the right order

Thank you. Funnily enough I introduced the eldest to polo as I wanted to try it . Both really enjoyed it but she now tells me she needs two more ponies Laughing

My sister in law and some of the children play polo somewhere around Salisbury. Personally, the closest I get to horses is shooting the rabbits that destroy the paddocks up in the West Midlands, don't think that counts as "being horsey" Laughing
