L322 5.0 SC - how does trans cope

The L322 5.0 SC has a mind blowing 375kw of power. The 3.6 tdv8 with the same drive train only had to deal with only 200kw. How does the 6hp26, transfer box and diffs cope with nearly double the power?

Any reported drivetrain failures? ______________________________

the 5.0 has an upgraded 6hp28 box so that it copes with the extra power ..pretty robust unit apparently... ... - .- -.

The 2nd generation transmission did receive some hardware upgrades but it’s worth pointing out that a transmission’s running gear is more sensitive to torque than power. The 5.0 litre petrol engine produces 625Nm and the 3.6 litre diesel produces 640Nm.

Thanks Stan & Phil. Good to know. I did notice the nM were similar. The torque from these motors is amazing. I thought the steep power curve combined with impressive torque may result in breakages. ______________________________

They say that there is no substitute for CC, but it's the Torque that makes you go forwards!

My 3.6TDV8 was tweaked to 750Nm and have been looking at 800Nm and 360PS for the 4.4... Twisted Evil Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Thanks for the replies gents. I just read a ZF webpage that states the 6HP28 (2nd generation 6HP) can take up to 850 Nm.

Very jealous MrP. My next one might be a petrol too. If I get one ______________________________

LOL, that sounds like a Joey Dunlop quote, "There's a green blur and a grey blur. I try to stay on the grey one"
