if telephone is missing off screen or shaded out then something has gone wrong, best thing todo is to get navcoder it can read the ulf unit and pair it to

Pin 36 needs to be connected to the negative wire, permanently. Pin 32 just touches it momentarily to pair, i.e. They both end up to ground. Just touching them together won't do a thing.

Done from memory, pretty sure it's 36 that's negative all the time.

As mentioned, if Telephone is not shown in white on the screen, the ULF has not identified itself on the ibus. You need that first.....

You have to follow the pairing procedure, not just touch pins. 36 needs to be permanently connected to I think the brown wire, don't disconnect it. Pin 32 needs to go there too, momentarily, to simulate a switch press - I added a Choccy block into the earth so I could just touch 32 to it as needed. Touching 32 to 36 will do nothing if 36 is not still earthed at the same time.

You have got the pairing procedure?

I'll see if I can find it.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

It's alive if you have Telephone in white. I imagine if you press it it says Activate Phone or such like?

I eventually put a switch for pairing near the ULF in the boot. Makes it slightly easier.

How are you getting to pin 32? I used a pin connector from one of the old pin wires that isn't used anymore. Left a few inches of wire on it that I could shove the bare end to the choccy block I had in line on the wire going to 36.... if that makes sense?

It takes a few goes to get the timing right when pairing, but at least you can see the LEDs come on at the front whilst you are shorting the wire in the boot.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Hi telephone is lit white if I press it I'm not getting any message to say connect phone
As for the pins I used a scotch lock to splice into the wires on 32 and 36 pins have noticed when I touch the wires together my voice activation operates

32 doesn't go anywhere does it? It's loose, just a length of wire.....

Touching it to 36 should do nothing - other than when you go through the pairing procedure.....

Not sure why your voice activation is coming on, that should only be activated by the steering wheel button. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

in all honesty I had issues with the pairing thing, from memory once the telephone is white no LED are displayed, you need to put it in pairing mode (I used navcoder) once I got in to it was easy enough

you can use a BMW inpa cable from eBay with navcoder which is less than 10 from memory there are free versions of navcoder floating about

I read through the 32/36 pin trick and simply couldn't ever get it to work (not saying it doesn't work just I failed with it and navcoder was here and easy to use)

Errr I didn't realise you already had the factory phone - you have to unplug all that if you are using a ULF as it combines all the units into one. Not sure what the car will do with it all still in.

As long as you are happy...... you could always keep hold of the ULF and try it again in a few weeks when you don't feel like flinging it down the garden.... Very Happy 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I'm confused, you have to repin the connector to use ULF have you reversed all the pins ? Or.do you have a Nokia hands free system which I believe was quite separate to the Siemen system

From factory, if the RR has factory phone in the front armrest, it is run by a TCM in the boot. Telephone Control Module. There is generally a Voice Control unit too, also separate. The 54 pin connector in cars without phone is wired to work the TCM. The ULF was never fitted to the RR, only later BMWs, but uses the same connector but wired differently. So when you repin it goes from TCM to ULF pinouts. So you need to repin back to original if you want to use the factory fit handset.

ULFs that are generation 6 onwards have voice control built in, so no idea what it will do if the older voice control unit is still in the loop...
