Your rear vents between the front seats have a fan control on one side and a temp control on the other - they should work independently of the front temps. |

Yeah except this heat control for the rear vent hardly adjusts the temp. It does do something, albeit very minor adjustments.

I believe the rear temp control can only get the air as hot as the setting on the temp control on the dash. It's the same fresh air bleed system as the front face vents. If the dash control is at (say) 20, the max heat you'll get in the back is the temp the system chooses to get you to 20. |

Man that sucks. The other day the kids were in the back cold so i had to have the hot blowers on them. Which meant i was sweating in the front.... |

No need for that. Turn the main temp controls up, set the direction controls to "face", then move the front air bleed wheel toward the cold/blue/right side. Then cold air on your face, nothing to screen or feet, rear gets as hot as you set the temp controls. |

The rear face level vents temperature can be controlled independently of the front heating / cooling setting. The rotary heat control knob operates a blend flap in the heater assembly to allow heated or cooled air to the rear vents as required. The rotary knob feeds through a potentiometer to the ac ecu which then sets the blend flap as selected.

Ok. Sounds like the motor has gone. Is this motor an easy one to get to? Any idea where it is?

The air duct for the rear vents runs from the rear of the heater assembly above the transmission tunnel below the centre console. I'm guessing the blender flap is located as the duct leaves the heater assembly. It's possible the flap motor can be accessed by removing either of the footwell side panels or at worst removing the centre console.
