I can recommend the Guardsman dog guard, fits perfectly and uses manufacturers mounting points. I also bought their divider, I'm not convinced about that part however as it doesn't stay in position very well.

unfortunately Dom's lovely unrestrained pooch is a lethal weapon if Dom had to brake from 70mph...

i'm kinda lucky that our dog is fairly small so sit on the rear seat and can be fitted with a harness which is belted to the seatbelt... ... - .- -.

Yep, he needs to be behind a doggie guard. Was only about 60 Stan, had the tintent on the back so not exactly going to be braking hard with that thing in tow. Wasn't long after that he climbed down into the footwell behind my seat and curled up for a snooze, only to be rudely awakened at the nest services whereupon he was returned to the boot.

Dog box everytime for me, Lintran or one of the other makes. I know they're more expensive than a guard, but keeps all the dirt and dog hair out of the back of the motor, and keeps the dog safe when you open the tailgate to let them out

I've got a lintran for sale in the classifieds as good as new

Purchase:-

One harness for dogs in suitable size

One restraining strap that clips into seat belt holder

and either

One suitable seat cover or

One army blanket (virtually waterproof and BIG)

and have the dog in the cabin with you. Ours love being close and to be fair, only a teenager would like to be near a sub-woofer (sic) for any length of time.

Another vote for a dog box - use mine for shooting and going on holiday. Keeps half the boot clear and clean plus I can put bags on top and the dog is safe 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

I bought the RR full guard for the 2012 but feel a home made one will be better.

I cut mine in half..with fixings to make it full size. This allowing the easy fold down of seats, without total removal, enabling use of the whole boot / back seat area when Harvey’s cousin Leyla, isn’t travelling with us.


Harley only needs to be prevented from climbing over the seats- can not climb thru them - the guard hangs from the roof and is held in place by a couple of adjustable arms.

You will also be able to make the mesh with larger spaces..clearer views.Im sure the local black smith would knock one up for you.

All that said, the current guard , has a very handy ‘shelf’ suitable for an umbrella to live in.

I've got the standard fit dog guard in mine, but like Stan use dog seatbelts and a harness on the back seat.

Rule 57 of the Highway Code: -

Quote:

“When in a vehicle make sure dogs or other animals are suitably restrained so they cannot distract you while you are driving or injure you, or themselves, if you stop quickly.

“A seat belt harness, pet carrier, dog cage or dog guard are ways of restraining animals in cars.”

Potential £5k fine.
