Tow Bar coding

Hello.

I had the tow armature and bar fitted the other day by someone PF Jones arranged (mobile mechanic). Went really well until it came to coding the vehicle. The instructions with the electrics was that the 2009-2012 L322 needed coding but when he plugged his tool in, it didn't give the option to enable the towing bits. He called the support people for the tool he was using (I believe it was Westfalia) and they told him that model wasn't supported by the tool.

The main problem seems to be the reverse sensors do not disengage when the trailer is attached but all the lights work (including the body fogs being disabled when trailer ones are connected) as does the trailer indicator when indicating.

Has anyone come across this before? Is this something that the iidtool will sort as I have one on my list of things to get soon?

Thanks.

Yes they will need coding, to get full functionality, and they can be programmed for the type of socket you are fitting as you can see from Stans image above.

Either IID job or a trip to the dealer/tow bar centre or an indy with decent diagnostics. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Hi, I've recently recoded all mine as I changed from 7 pin to 13 pin electrics. Everything is in the IID tool menu. The sensors etc will turn off. Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

Mine wasn't coded at all and it was doing that. Not tried it since I have coded it since I don't have a trailer with fogs (the fitter was testing with his test board). Maybe its a function of the later ECU's and is built in as standard rather than something that gets turned on or off (maybe for safety)?

I have by iid tool now and enabled the towing options.
