Rear outter CV boot

Has anyone done this job?
I noticed a small nick in the boot as I'm replacing bushes at the rear so while the hub is off I thought it best to tackle it now.

But does the cv easily pull apart to get the new one on or is it going to be a royal pita?! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

Not sure on a FF, but when I've done this on other cars, I've used a cone to expand a super-stretchy boot to get it over the CV joint. Takes a bit of doing, but works really well if you lubricate the cone well. I've heard of people putting the boot in hot water before, too, to aid it's stretchiness.

I've used a stretchy one before on anprevious car and whilst it appeals for speed I like the fact that thisnone has lasted 12years and has only suffered due to something hurting it by the looks of it.

Checking YouTube out I'm hoping the lump hammer on a piece of wood will do the job to free it off and then job done.

Fronts have a spring clip inside the CV joint and took a lot of persuasion with a hub puller recently for me... 🙄 Current: Supercharged 06 FFRR in Java Black

Was that to get the hub off the shaft or separate the shaft itself to get a new boot on? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

To get the hub off of the cv joint and then some hefty hammer blows on the joint itself. Current: Supercharged 06 FFRR in Java Black

That's cool as it's already off the hub as I have a hydraulic puller for that job that popped it off quicker than it took to fit the puller 😂😂🙈 FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
